about

In 2023, Abiyah turned 54 and Alice Bag turned 65. STILL is a song about ageism against women, generally, and female performers, specifically. Yes, we are STILL here and we are STILL performing at whatever damn age we please, in contrast to many of our male counterparts who seem to get a pass regardless of age, appearance, etc.

STILL standing.
STILL singing.
STILL dancing.
STILL dreaming.

Age is an illusion.
You don’t age out of anything at any time except what and when you choose to.
Age is a measure of experience, not a measure of ability or capability.

lyrics

Still (feat. Alice Bag)

VERSE 1 PART 1:

Woke up like my birthday was yesterday
That’s fine
I’m STILL standing
Not waiting in line
I’ve already been there
With no regard to time
And now we shi-i-i-ine
Keep it movin’
And up the pace
No time for disgrace
Over lines on our face
There’s no need to erase

VERSE 1 PART 2 :

Yeah, and we’re told it’s the end
Uh, when we’re really just beginnin’
Our legacy is our friend
Spent years making currency
Disregarding all the trends
Found out much later
It doesn’t matter when
We’re STILL standin’, uh

HOOK:

STILL got it goin’ on
We be more ageless
Don’t mess with that nonsense
Still hit the stage and you know we’re killin’ it
Not sitting STILL for no one
Years and years don’t add up to some
But the math makes us equal
In our hearts who we’ve become
STIIIIIILLLL HEEEEERRE
<chuckle>

VERSE 2::

Are you saying I’m expired
My calendar does not say that
Neither am I retired
But I’m fired up now
And when we’ve been told no way
We say
We spent our whole lives
Building up to slay
Building up to slay
Whatchu say now?
Ha
Whatchu say?

HOOK::

STILL got it goin’ on
We be more ageless
Don’t mess with that nonsense
Still hit the stage and you know we’re killin’ it
Not sitting STILL for no one
Years and years don’t add up to some
But the math makes us equal
In our hearts who we’ve become
STIIIIIILLLL HEEEEERRE

BRIDGE:

(4x)
STILL STANDING
STILL SINGING
STILL DANCING
STILL DREAMING

Whoa

HOOK/OUTRO:

STILL got it goin’ on
We be more ageless
Don’t mess with that nonsense
Still hit the stage, yeah, cuz you know we’re killin’ it
STILL got it goin oh-oh-oh-oh-on
and on and on and on and on
Oh-whoa
<giggle>
Yeah, we ain’t goin’ nowhere

STIIIIIILLLL HEEEEERRE

about

Abiyah Cincinnati, Ohio

Boundary-blurring curveball collage of electronica, dancehall, indie rock, avant-hip hop, & punk blended with the fury of a free wild muse.

"Abiyah is the queen of all the mechanical parts of your heart. Her songs let you breathe underwater. She's the only thing your brain and your hips can agree on."
